sometimes going somewhere solo with two kids can feel rather daunting. it’s not like one on one, it’s different. it can feel like one against two at times. but that’s at the worst of times and usually it’s good. plus aya’s at an age where she can help out. so the beach. i love going but not on weekends when it’s packed. i go during the week while jamie’s at work, if i don’t go then i barely go at all. at first it was a bit of a struggle. i feel like i’m just starting to get out more solo with two kids. i initially thought i would load down the stroller with everything and push it but strollers through the sand suck, at least on bc beaches. it was horrible. i ended up abandoning the stroller and packing everything in in a couple loads while carrying charlie. i have since gotten better, i learn fast especially when it comes to making life easier. i’d go so far as to say i’ve gotten it down.here’s how i do the beach solo with two kids: i wear charlie on my front facing out in the ergo 360. i love the ergo 360 for the facing out position, it’s a great option for especially curious babies. i wear a backpack that i love, you can find a similar one here at free people. i personally don’t do diaper bags, i’ve never found one that felt like me plus they all seem bulky. backpacks are practical and who is more practical than a mom?? i carry everything i can jam in there; snacks, drinks, towels, blankets, diapers, everything! then i carry all my valuables in a….belt pouch. yes, a belt pouch. i’m super lame but guess what, i don’t care. that little belt pouch makes it so that when i have to go on a food run, bathroom run, or just exploring i don’t have to worry about leaving everything behind because my phone, money, keys, and trusty asthma inhaler are all on me. it’s a lifesaver. aya has to carry her own beach bag and sand toys. i am a firm believer in letting kids know they are capable. her beach bag is usually full of stuffies and full of rocks and shells on the way out. then charlie carries the beach umbrella or at least holds onto it for dear life while he’s in the carrier. so backpack, ergo 360, belt pouch and beach umbrella. and a capable five year old. and that is how i manage the beach solo.so if you want to get out more but it’s just you there are ways, good luck and get a fanny pack!
