when jamie left for a trip to switzerland last spring i decided to go on a road trip with aya. there’s no denying how beautiful the kootenays are so we found ourselves headed east. it took us three days to get to nelson with a few stops along the way; winding through snow coverers mountains, stopping for picnics and coffee shop breaks, picking sage and flowers, visiting empty beaches… it was a great trip and I’m planning another mother daughter trip south this late summer/ fall while jamie ventures on his fourth trip to switzerland. here’s some photos from last years kootenay road trip with aya…
with her hair pressed up against the back of a carseat for good chunks of time it was either dreads or deep conditioning treatments every half hour. i went for the temporary dreadlocks and focusing on the road as you can see.
one of the reasons i chose the kootenays was to pick up some pottery by one of my favourite potters sarah lawless. i was lucky enough to visit her private studio in kaslo and hand pick some pieces. i adore this extremely talented ladies work and it was well worth the drive to collect some fine art pieces to add to my collection.
aya took some self portraits with the remote!
and of course i never drive through the okanagan without picking sage.
i love having this little travel companion in my life and am looking forward to many more road trips and adventures with her:)
