i don’t claim to be a camping expert, up until last summer i had a fear of camping and would usually glamp in order to avoid being somewhat uncomfortable. the fear kicked in after kids. before kids i was up for just about anything. i even lived in a van for about 6 months in my late teens no problem. but kids came along and all i wanted was comfort, security, warmth and sleep, whatever little bit of sleep i could get! well i got over it and now i love camping. that being said i think there is a bit of glamper left in me and there are a few things i wouldn’t want to go on a camping trip without. here they are:
#1. camping stove. i love this stove. i bring a small cast iron pan along to cook on it with. it boils water faster than anything i’ve cooked on.
#2. bodum tea press. i’m obsessed with tea and coffee so it goes wherever i go.
#3. citronella candles. there are some good links on how to make your own here.
#4. sage. the smoke from it helps to keep mosquitos at bay plus it smells amazing.
#5. camping mugs. i honestly feel like my drinks taste better when it’s out of a cute mug.
#7. kids camping tent. we have one for the kids and they love it. it occupies them for hours and it’s small enough that it fits inside our tent at night so aya gets to sleep in a tent inside a tent which she loves.
#8. jolly jumper if your baby is under 12 months or still loves to be in it. we brought one for charlie on our last trip and it made life so much easier. he has outgrown it now so this year i think i’ll bring a pack n play because he’s so curious and always on the go. you can check out one of our family camping trips here. happy camping!!
